For the Poly Studio Desktop app, we plan to mark our next release as the latest release version in Poly Lens. This means that organizations with “use latest” policies for Desktop App version will automatically move to the latest version of Poly Studio Desktop at that time. For this reason, we recommend testing out the latest version of the Poly Studio Desktop app now (5.0.1), to become more familiar and comfortable with it in advance.

The Poly Studio Desktop app includes many new, exciting features that build upon our existing device management functionality. The app now supports HP Docks, Displays, and AI PCs, and includes a refreshed inventory view for this wide array of devices. Additionally, the app includes redesigned wellbeing reminders, light and dark modes, and a new calendar integration for one click meeting joins with Teams and Zoom for Windows accounts.

Note that the calendar feature requires enabling read access to your Microsoft O365 account. If your environment has additional security policies that require administrator approval first, you can refer to the HP Poly Studio Calendar Integration article to enable this feature organization-wide for a simplified rollout.

Once connected, WXP IT administrators can open Poly Lens Cloud via a click‑through workflow and continue managing collaboration devices and rooms as they do today by deploying, monitoring, maintaining, and measuring these devices without missing a beat.

• Secure tenant‑level authorization between WXP and Poly Lens Cloud.

• Seamless cross‑platform navigation, with Poly Lens opening in a new browser tab without the need to sign in again.

• A strong foundation for future Poly Lens Add‑on enhancements in WXP.

• Name and Tenant ID of the WXP Tenant that is integrated

• Who established the connection

• Date when the integration was established

This visibility gives administrators a clear audit trail and makes it straightforward to confirm which tenants are linked, and when.

A Few Important Notes​

• One‑to‑one tenant linking: Only one Poly Lens tenant can be linked to a single WXP tenant at a time.

• Datacenter alignment is required: US-based WXP tenants can only connect to US Poly Lens accounts, and EU-based WXP tenants to EU Poly Lens accounts. Cross-region connections are currently unsupported at this time.

• Where device management happens: The Poly Lens Add‑on focuses on authorization and navigation. Device and Room management continues in Poly Lens Cloud.

To continue this legacy partnership, we are excited to announce that Poly Studio X32, Studio X52 and Studio X72 all-in-one video bars, and Poly Studio G62 modular video conferencing solution, are now re-certified for Zoom Rooms running Android 13. We have also re-certified the Poly TC10 for Zoom Rooms controller and Zoom Room Scheduling panel running Android 12. These milestones ensure long-term compatibility and support for Zoom, giving customers confidence in their meeting room investments for years to come.

Android Platform Updates​

This upgrade to Android 13 will be delivered along with a comprehensive architectural overhaul in Poly VideoOS 5.0, scheduled for release to customers in early 2026. But it’s much more than an Android version upgrade – this new version of Poly VideoOS is designed to deliver future innovations and extended lifecycle support.

Manual Upgrade Required for Now​

To give you full control over deployment, Poly Studio Desktop will not automatically upgrade to the new HP Poly Studio versions at this time—even if your organization has an auto-update policy in place.

When you’re ready to upgrade, you can do so manually within your Poly Lens Cloud Account. This ensures you have flexibility and control during the transition.

Poly Lens will resume its normal auto-update functionality in the future for organizations with the appropriate policy enabled. In the meantime, we encourage you to test the new HP Poly Studio apps as soon as possible to experience the latest improvements.

Why We’ve Made these Changes​

Our existing Poly Lens platform with our powerful cloud portal serves a critical role in enabling effective hybrid work experiences within modern enterprises. IT Administrators and Device Managers have the ability to seamlessly configure, deploy, monitor, and manage end user devices across their organizations, while end users have optional control over their devices and individual experiences as they transition between different work environments.

Poly Lens Cloud for IT Admins and ITDMs to further increase control and ease of management, we also aim to serve the needs of end users for our Desktop, Mobile, and Room apps. With our HP Poly Studio rebrand and redesign, our goal is to provide an even more engaging and compelling end user experience that allows individuals to take their device management to the next level through the workday, helping drive the overall success of hybrid work in organizations. From here, we plan to add incremental enhancements over time to the end user experiences in these apps to increase the value to both end users and IT Admins & ITDMs as a uniquely differentiated platform.

How this Affects your Organization​

Providing IT Admins and ITDMs ultimate control remains a top priority for us, and for this reason, the Poly Studio Desktop app will not automatically upgrade to the new HP Poly Studio version. This includes organizations with a policy to auto-update to the latest software version for Desktop. Therefore, to upgrade your organization to the new HP Poly Studio apps, you can manually do so within your Poly Lens Cloud Account, when you feel ready. For deploying our Poly Studio Desktop app to HP ARM-based AI PCs, we now have a new upgrade path starting from 5.0 for deployment to these devices, that is separate from our existing Windows x64 upgrade path. Windows x64 and Mac upgrade paths will remain unchanged, with the exception of those upgrading from Poly Lens Desktop 1.x version, which requires a stepped upgrade to version 2.3.1, then on to Poly Studio Desktop version 5.0.

For Poly Lens Mobile app, since it is not controlled or managed through the Poly Lens Cloud, end users will have control over when they upgrade to the new HP Poly Studio Mobile app.

So How Do You Get Started?​

Getting started with the European datacenter is straightforward. When you create your new Poly Lens account, you'll see an option to select Germany as your Datacenter region during the setup process. This one-time selection ensures data stays in the European datacenter from day one.

Setting up your new Germany Datacenter region Account is simple:

1. Go to Poly Lens at lens.poly.com and login via SSO provider to create a new Account.
2. Choose Germany as the region during the Account setup process.
3. Complete your new Account configuration with pre-configured compliance settings.
4. Start onboarding and deploying devices immediately by going to Manage > Register Devices.

If your organization operates across multiple regions, you can manage everything from a single view. The Manage All Accounts dashboard lets you access and filter between US and Germany Accounts seamlessly, giving you unified visibility without the complexity of switching between separate Accounts.

Transparency is built in at every level. Whether you're an Admin, Device Manager, or Guest user, you can view your US or Germany datacenter location and Account associations directly from your user profile.

Important Considerations​

Network Preparation Required​

To connect your devices to the European datacenter, you'll need to update your network configurations. Don't worry, this is a straightforward process, and we use the same ports and protocols you're already familiar with.

Before you begin deploying devices to the European datacenter:

1. Update your firewall rules to allow connections to the European IoT endpoint:
   eu-lens-iot-prod-iothub-germanywestcentral.azure-devices.net
2. Configure your proxy servers (if applicable) to permit traffic to this new IoT endpoint.
3. Test connectivity from your network to ensure devices can reach the European datacenter.
4. Update any monitoring tools to include the European IoT endpoint for visibility.

Important: Devices need to be able to reach the European datacenter to register and for active management. Complete these network updates before you begin onboarding devices to ensure a smooth experience.

Currently, there are no automated tools to migrate existing data from the US datacenter to the European datacenter. The European datacenter is designed for:

Proxy Configuration Support is here!​

Poly Lens Desktop 2.3 Windows supports Proxy Configuration enabling IT administrators to route application traffic through HTTP(S) proxies using either system-wide or per-component configurations, offering flexibility to match enterprise network policies. Compatible with enterprise SSL inspection and certificate management, the proxy configuration support improves network visibility and control for IT administrators and facilitates troubleshooting and traffic analysis using proxy tools like Fiddler.

Installation Enhancement – Desktop Shortcut Control​

Poly Lens Desktop 2.3 introduces a new installation property that gives IT admins control over desktop clutter. By using the CREATE_DESKTOP_SHORTCUT=0 switch during installation, IT administrators can suppress the creation of the desktop shortcut icon—perfect for streamlined imaging and policy-driven deployments.

Loginless Deployment – Minimized Startup​

We’ve added support for minimized startup behavior, ensuring that Lens Desktop launches in the background even if the user is not logged in at the time of installation. This enhancement supports loginless workflows and improves user experience in shared or managed device environments.

Enhanced Docking Station Support and Key Updates – Public BETA​

Following the Poly Lens Cloud support for HP Docks introduced in February 2025, this release represents another important step forward for our software solutions. With this update, end users can now manage their HP Docks directly from their desktops, eliminating the need to wait for IT assistance and improving productivity and flexibility in today’s hybrid work environment. This release now introduces limited compatibility with the latest HP Thunderbolt G6 Docks—including the 100W, 180W, and 280W models. With this update, users can easily customize and update their dock software when connected via USB.

Supported Dock Models:

• HP Thunderbolt 4 100W G6 Dock
• HP Thunderbolt 4 Ultra 180W G6 Dock
• HP Thunderbolt 4 Ultra 280W G6 Dock

How it Works: If your dock is connected directly to a Windows PC via USB, you’ll have access to features like firmware updates, device settings, and the ability to rename your dock—all from within the Poly Lens Desktop app.

Limited Device Management: Docks onboarded by ITDM through Bulk or PIN code methods, will have restricted settings and device management in Poly Lens Desktop.

Please note that some users may encounter occasional display errors with device settings for supported docks.

We are now expanding to include European datacenter capabilities specifically to serve our security-conscious European customers who require data to remain within European jurisdiction, and European devices will be automatically routed to this regional hub for maximum security assurance and compliance. The addition of dedicated European IoT Hub support is designed to:

• Address data sovereignty concerns for security-conscious European organizations
• Enhance data residency compliance with European regulations
• Reduce latency through geographically closer infrastructure within European borders
• Provide enhanced data residency assurance for sensitive organizational data
• Support continued reliability at enterprise scale within Europe

Action Required: Update Security Configurations​

As we approach the release of our new European Datacenter, you must update your network security settings to include the new European IoT Hub endpoint for seamless onboarding on Day 1 of our release. Devices that cannot reach this new hub will not be able to onboard and/or lose connectivity with Poly Lens network devices and Poly Lens Apps.

Important: These updates are only required for customers wanting to use the new Lens European datacenter when it becomes available. No action is required for customers that do not want to use the new Lens European datacenter.

Please Note​

• No changes to existing Ports/Protocols (Type – TCP / Port – 443 and 8883)
• All existing IoT Hub endpoints remain active and operational
• The new European endpoint uses the same protocol configuration
• European devices will be automatically distributed to the regional hub

Remote Distribution and Bulk Onboarding​

For IT administrators who already have multiple PC-based conference rooms deployed and need an effortless way to onboard and manage them, the new bulk onboarding capabilities will save them time and money. Gone are the days of visiting each room individually to deploy the Poly Lens Room app and onboard the rooms into Poly Lens cloud one by one.

With this release, IT admins can now create and apply a client token and input their provider (Microsoft Teams or Zoom) in a simple script. Using your favorite software deployment tool, the client token allows IT admins to remotely distribute, silently install and automatically bulk onboard the Poly Lens Room app on multiple conference PCs at once—no need to visit each room individually. This will automatically link all your Poly devices in your conference room to your Poly Lens Account.

Device Policy Support​

Poly Lens Room now enables the ability for IT admins to manage their device settings and software updates via Individual, Site and Account level policies within Poly Lens cloud.
