PIN Code Onboarding for HP Docking Station Devices

The following procedure is focused on a single, or a few HP Docking Station devices into Poly Lens. To bulk onboard or to onboard Docking Station devices to be managed by the model policies in Poly Lens, see Provisioning Docking Station Devices.

Onboard a HP Docking Station Device with a PIN Code

This section provides instructions on how to PIN onboard a Docking Station device. Please ensure that DHCP is not enabled on port 160 and 66 as it is used for bulk onboarding and follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the monitor(s) via HDMI, DP, or USB-C DP Alt. Mode (non-TBT) ports.
  2. Power on the Docking Station.
  3. Connect the HP Docking Station (RJ-45 cable) to your laptop.
  4. Press the power button twice and a blue breathing light should appear on the Docking Station. If double tapping doesn’t work, wait 10 seconds and try again.
  5. A QR code will display on your monitor, and within 30 seconds a PIN code will appear.
  6. Once the PIN code is displayed on your monitor, you can log in to Poly Lens Cloud to register the device. This can be done in two ways:
    • Using a mobile device (iPhone or Android):
      1. Scan the QR code using the camera on your mobile device.
      2. A Poly Lens log-in page will appear. Log in to your account, and the Register Device form will appear. 3.Provide the PIN displayed on the monitor and additional information as needed to complete the registration.
    • Using a computer instead of a mobile device to register the device:
      1. On your computer, go to Poly Lens and log in to your account.
      2. Go to Manage > Register Device and select Register a Single Device.
      3. Provide the PIN displayed on the monitor and additional information as needed and complete the registration.
  7. An on-screen notification for successful onboarding will appear on the monitor and the Docking Station device will now reboot.
  8. If there is a firmware update available, following will occur:
    • The Docking Station Device will download a firmware update.
    • When the firmware is downloaded, the firmware update will start.
    • When the firmware update is completed, a green LED will appear.
